you must all read this book now! July 18, 2009 Robert F. Ruggiero
as soon as I started to read this book I knew it is to be shared, gifted or borrowed from the library. It is very well researched and well detailed without overdoing it. I enjoyed all the true surviving stories so much so, I found myself telling my family and friends almost every one of them and stirring their interest enough for them to read it as well. I also gave as a gift to two others. The best part is the test to take at the end to discover exactly what type of a survivor you are yourself! What a great way to continue the research by bringing it all home to yourself. Ben is talented, smart and funny. ( I am not related too him)
Timely Reading August 23, 2009 Michael J. Foy (Boston) I loved this book. Several parts of the book read like true adventure stories and inspired me. Very uplifting and it couldn't have come at a better time given our family circumstances. Another category of survivor that Ben Sherwood acknowledges is co-survivor. That is anyone who has been cast in the role of care giver to an unwell relative or friend. Given my ailing in-laws and the strain that my wife and I have borne the book lifted our spirits and encouraged us to carry on with dignity. Anyone who doubts their innate ability to survive will strength from Ben's analysis of these survivor case studies.
Preparing for the Worst Case Scenario September 3, 2009 Larry Underwood (Scottsdale, AZ) Ben Sherwood's fascinating study into the art of survival, gives the reader an in depth analysis of what it takes to make the grade, and why so many don't; much of it depends on the amount of preparation an individual exercises. Essentially, those preparing for a worst case scenario won't be caught off guard if something catastrophic occurs, and they won't think that some miracle will rescue them from a hellish situation. They've got to take action themselves to cope with the crisis; if not, see ya.
Sherwood not only compiled a well organized and compelling study, he also provides the reader with a self-help quiz to see if they would be able to cut the mustard, or become toast. Hopefully, those who failed this particular exam the first time around, will take the effort to bone up for it again; the next time could be the real thing.
What more could one ask for? Buy this book and study it carefully. It may help you tack on another 20 or 30 years to your life, and that's not a bad deal.
Inspiring and Thought Provoking September 4, 2009 Sharon Sipos (Chesterfield, VA United States) Ben Sherwood does a fascinating study of people that survive all kinds of situations and tramas. He gives verifable statistics and backs them up with real life testimonies from people that are "Survivors: (and stores of some that did not survive). I found this book interesting, educational and inspiring.
Absolutely engaging September 7, 2009 J. Karl This book offers the reader much to think about. It examines the many different aspects and needs of surviving a variety of happenings in a very readable, comprehensive manner. At the very end the reader is invited to the website created to enhance the books experience and to test what skills one has as a survivor. Since I found this book thru the library I was not able to take the big test but even then was provided a small test for free. I thought that was nice. Though, had there been a paypal option, I would have paid more than the price of the book to be able to take the test, it is just that I have no need of the book other than to obtain the key code. The end of the book discusses a tool kit for survival. It was interesting to be able to evaluate what tools I do possess and it made me feel good about myself and my ability to survive. While reading these points I was able to conjure up memories of when and where I have applied these tools. A great way to wind up a neat book. Thank you Mr. Sherwood for this and for the website. I think you must be a very nice fellow.
