I read the book in a very short period of time. It is very well-written and very informative. It gives a thorough insight in the psychology of any human being, be it a survivor or not. It will help anyone understand his strenght and weakness and thereby try to improve his/her life.

The test at the end of the book is very helpful. Every one should take it. For me, it turned out that I am a believer. I am and was a believer all my life but this test came to assure me about my style and approach in life.

Fascinating book on why some live and some die in extreme situations. Author provides in-depth research, interesting anecdotes. Back of book has a survivor's profile quiz, kind of a New Age annoyance found in books everywhere nowadays but rest of book is endlessly interesting.

This is NOT an "eat roots & berrys/how-to" survival handbook.Rather it delves into what I consider the most important aspect of survival &/or self defense:mindset. Why does this person survive an incident while the person next to them does not? What roles do luck, faith, determination, training, equipement play? How might I do in similar circumstances:what are my strong & weak points?
Read the book then go to the Website & take the test:won't cost you but 20 or so mins. Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Great book! I highly recommend!!   March 3, 2010

I own this audio book and am very glad I purchased it. I don't agree AT ALL with the negative reviews. The author does provide the science of survival. He visited the top experts in their fields of survival research. He even went thru some harrowing survival training himself (let's just say I wouldn't do it). He also gave some good statistics i.e. most people think if you're in a plane crash that everyone dies, when actually there is a good chance you could survive.
Great info, great stories, highly recommended to make a great addition to your library!!
