Mr. Levin has painted a big target on his back with this book. Soon, the White House will be trying to marginalize him like they tried to with Limbaugh, and again they will only drive up his sales numbers. Why? Because he is right, and they know it. Power to the people, dissent is patriotic!
Levin is brilliant March 25, 2009 A. Wilhoit (South Florida) 37 out of 44 found this review helpful
Levin's research into the Constitution is invaluable, especially for those who have been fed a steady diet of liberalism via the mainstream mdeia of the last many years. Levin's presentation of issues is akin to classroom study, and concise enough to get the point across quickly (i.e., 200 pages of text and almost 40 pages of footnotes on the sources). Levin documents the erosion of self-governance over the last several years and the principles we need to demand in order to regain our freedoms that are being consumed by the federal government with each passing day. A must read for anyone who wishes to truly understand conservatism whether they support that philosophy or not.
Very good so far! March 24, 2009 J. Tant (Under the cultural penumbra of Washington DC) 58 out of 71 found this review helpful
I've purchased the Kindle version of this book (Thanks to the publishers and Mr. Levin for supporting Kindle!!!). I've not finished the entire book yet, but rather got through the first two chapters. So far, it's a terrific work. I found it very engaging and approachable, and the motivated lay reader will certainly get value out of it. He starts out from the general and moves to the specific with regards to his thesis, and it's done in a great, readable style. Kudos!
I've been a fan of Mr. Levin since I read Men in Black. If you have read Men in Black I think you'll get quite a bit out of Liberty and Tyranny.
On a technical note, the footnotes in the Kindle version are hotlinked...meaning the reader can click on the footnote to the cite, and then click back to the text. It's a very nice feature and much appreciated.
Timely primer on the crucial issues of our time March 24, 2009 Peter Galamaga (Bedford, NH) 42 out of 51 found this review helpful
Levin presents a logical case, laid out professorially and methodically, that reveals how far America has gone from its original purpose as a birthplace of liberty towards a dronelike existence under the power of smiling dictators.
Buy a copy for every intelligent person you know.
An energetic, honest, and inspirational confidence booster... March 24, 2009 Maideneer (Long Island, NY) 69 out of 86 found this review helpful
It is with great pride and adulation I write this review. Not only is Mark Levin a kind, understanding, genuine and intelligent human being, he brings this sort of "passionate-guy-next-door" approach to his writing and his arguments. It makes for a book that is easy and enjoyable to read for most of everyone who is literate and semi-knowledgable about history.
Mark is my favorite radio talk-show host and my source of inspiration on all matters political. Through this book, it calls on clear thinking conservatives to adopt a more active approach in engaging their opponents, to no longer sit on the sidelines and watch as the country is swept from under our feet.
Do not hesitate in purchasing this book, it's the kind you can pass down to the next generation in hopes of transferring the same ideas and strategies. Thank you Mark for this educational piece of mastery.
